The backstory to commissioning a portrait is the key to how, what, why and who your subject is.
I met Elizabeth wen she visited a gallery I was the resident artist in a couple of summers ago.
Elizabeth was still a striking looking woman at 72 years old when I met her.
She asked me to paint her portrait from a black and white image of her when she was 17 years old.
Elizabeth was teacher all her life and she felt that in her twilight years she wanted to leave legacy to her family of herself of when she was young Her portrait was such a pleasure for me to paint. I used winsor and newton fine art materials www.cassart.co.uk
It took about 3 weeks to complete the portrait and Elizabeth was delighted with the finished work
It was quite a challenge I chatted to Elizabeth at length to get a feel of who she was and is and understand her colouring in this youthful study.
